No better place for group travel than Africa

Africa is made for group travel.

With an abundance of wildlife reserves, game-watching parks and safari parks, there is really no better place for groups to travel to and around. In fact, group travel is a speciality of Africa.

The Swahili word safari literally means journey, and is something that you simply have to do if visiting parts of Africa with you group where this is possible. The Masai Mara is one of the most famous wildlife reserves in the world, and caters for group travel as a matter of course. Groups travelling on safari in this part of Africa go in the hope of seeing big cats like lions, relaxing in their prides and hunting. And with the Masai Mara stretching to nearly 940 square miles, there is plenty of room to see them in. Most group travellers are not left disappointed in their trips to the Masai Mara. Other African beasts like elephants, hippos and zebras are also often seen on these safaris, along with cheetahs and leopards.

Another gem of Africa is Zambia, and many groups travel here to see the wondrous sight that is Victoria Falls. These spectacular falls are completely awe-inspiring. The spray from these falls can be seen for miles around, and figures show that more than 540 million cubic metres of water cascade over the edge during flood season. At about two kilometres wide and falling into a gorge about 100 metres below, it is clear to see why groups travelling to Africa head to this part of the continent to see this fantastic sight on the Zambezi river.

Mauritius is a favourite with honeymooners wanting to sample a bit of Africa, but it is still popular with group travellers too. Many groups take this in as part of a multi-centre stay, combining a fabulous safari in Kenya, for example, with a taste of paradise on this wonderful island.

Group tours are very popular in Africa, and are perfect for travellers wanting not just a holiday, but an experience. Go off the beaten track and delve deep into Africa. Buy fruit and vegetables from local tradesmen, pitch your tent up in in the wilds and be prepared for the unexpected. If you have a sense of adventure, group travel opportunities exist to help you sample the real Africa. Many travel agents offer trips like these, where you can book with a friend or two and join others wanting to get the same out of Africa as you do. Even if you are travelling alone, it is no problem to join a group travel tour and make new friends while finding out more about the amazing continent of Africa.

City tours are also possible as part of a group travelling scheme. South Africa has some fabulous cities, including Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, so join a group and take in all the sights this part of Africa has to offer.
Whether you want to relax on a beach, go looking for big cats in the heart of the Masai Mara or go fishing in Mauritius, Africa caters for all aspects of group travel.
