South America – perfect for group travel

Group travellers will be spoilt for choice in South America.

With 12 countries to choose from, and two other islands that belong to the UK, there are a wealth of cultures to visit.
From Brazil to Bolivia and Paraguay to Peru, group travellers can take part in all sorts of adventures in South America.

A popular choice in South America for groups is the Inca Trail in Peru. The mountainous jungle trek takes in Inca ruins, rich terrain and wonderful wildlife, culminating when groups arrive at the sacred Inca city Machu Picchu. Groups need to be of moderate fitness to go on this trek.

Ecuador is another popular country in South America for group travel, as it is home to the amazing Amazon rainforest. There are many tours available for groups, enabling travellers to get a real taste of life in a jungle homestead. There are also opportunities for the braver people in the group to try white water rafting in this amazing setting.

Other group travellers in South America may want to take in the colour and sounds of Brazil, by travelling from Rio de Janerio through to Buenos Aires – taking in the Iguassu Falls and travelling through three countries: Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. This is a wonderful way to take in three South American cultures in one group trip.

Chile is experiencing more and more in the way of tourism each year, and group travel is part of that increase. Easter Island is also part of Chile, although it is more than 2,000 miles from its coast, and is a place that draws all types of tourists, including group travellers. It is most famous for the huge carved faces and many other statues which adorn the island.

Bolivia is one of the poorest nations in South America, but that doesn’t stop group travellers making the most of the destination. With its differing landscapes, from the Amazonian to the Andean, and its air of mystery, Bolivia provides more than just an excursion for group travellers. With world heritage sites among the many places to see in Boliva, it is easy to understand why group travel is becoming more popular here. The city of Sucre in Bolivia is one of these sites.

More and more tour operators are now offering group tours to many places in South America. Although traditionally poorer than it’s northern sister, South America has so much to offer in culture, history and scenery. Portuguese is the most common language in South America, but other languages are also found, including German and even Welsh. This is a continent full of surprises, so if you are planning to go travelling with a group, South America is certainly somewhere to think about. It is just perfect for group travel.
