More to Spain than meets the eye
Young travellers have always flocked to Spain, as well as families, couple and groups. And while its beaches and resorts are always guaranteed to be packed full of tourists, this country has more to offer than just a cheap package holiday deal.

Europe's second largest country, behind neighbouring France, is a majestic land, awash with scenes of natural beauty. From arid planes to lush forests and mountain
streams, Spain offers a wealth of diverse terrain. Walkers and hikers will be in their element, and the country's national parks offer spectacular
sights. The Donana National Park in the provinces of Seville and Huelva has a climate perfect for migrating birds and Montaņa de Covadonga National Park is home to a number of animal and plant species that are threatened with
extinction. |

It can be said that Spain's capital city Madrid lacks many of the historical or famous monuments that make other European cities hot topics of conversation. But this vibrant city is full of cultural delights. The city boasts no less than three museums. One of them, The Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia displays work by famous artists including Picasso and Dali. Madrid is also home to the Spanish Royal Family. The city is also renowned for its pulsating nightlife, although many places do not get busy until midnight, as the Spanish tend to eat their dinners later in the evening.
Another renowned city is Barcelona, home to the 98, 772 seater Nou Camp (Camp Nou in Catalan, meaning New Field). The capital of Catalonia, Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain, and due to its position on the shores of the Mediterranean, means it enjoys good weather for most of the year. There is also the awe-inspiring La Sagrada Familia, also known as the unfinished cathedral. Photographs of Gaudi's cathedral alone are breathtaking, so it would be criminal to visit this fantastic city and not make the trip to see these magnificent towers.
Valencia is an unpretentious city, that is steadily making its mark as a top destination for holiday breaks with a cool nightlife scene and numerous new projects. The city is famous for its oranges, but there is another fruit that makes its mark on the area every year. La Tomatina in Bunol, just outside Valencia, is without doubt the biggest tomato fight in the world. For a week before, celebrations, parades and street parties take place, until the Wedneday morning dawns, and 20,000 revellers take to the streets to throw 90,000 pounds of tomatos. It truly is a sight to be seen, although beware if you are wearing a baseball cap as you will be an immediate target!
Cities like these mentioned here are becoming more and more popular, especially with young travellers, stag parties and people looking for long weekend break. Couple this with the many fantastic holiday resorts dotted along Spain's coast, some a must for any young traveller, and there is certainly something to whet the appetite of any
visitor.
